Doors Open Days 2018: Johnstone, Elderslie & Linwood

We’ve got a really interesting mix of Doors Open Days participants across these three towns and villages.

Ballast Trust

18-20 Walkinshaw Street, Johnstone PA5 8AB
Open: Saturday, 10am – 4pm
For 30 years, the Ballast Trust has processed technical records – such as shipbuilding plans, engineering and railway drawings – for archive organisations like the University of Glasgow, Glasgow City Archives and National Records of Scotland. To celebrate their 30th birthday, the Trust are throwing the doors of their premises in the former James E. Robertson and Sons Ltd furniture factory open for the first time. Study fascinating archive material and get your hands on drawing materials to try creating your own plans. Share your discoveries at #Ballast30.

Colour in archive drawings of ships, locomotives and engines – can you come up with something better than the real thing? Or try the embossing press and discover which design you think is most exciting.

Johnstone Community Sports Hub
