Three new films exploring Paisley’s textile heritage and its social impacts, brought to you especially for Sma’ Shot Day.

 

Mill Girls & Thread Queens

 

In this short documentary, former Mill Girls share their memories of working in Paisley’s thread industry.

This is the public premiere of a collaboration between senior pupils from Mary Russell School and film makers Kevin Cameron & Gillian Steel.

 

The Machinery of Making

 

A film about the machines that drove Paisley and Renfrewshire’s industries and the people who operated them.

This will be the public premiere of a collaboration between Renfrewshire Leisure’s Camcorder Club and film maker Sil Derkx from Create Media.

 

Paisley in Stitches

 

A documentary capturing local memories of making and wearing homemade clothes in the post-war period.

This film was made by Kevin Cameron in collaboration with several community groups including the Tannahill Centre, Roar Connections for Life and Barnardo’s Works.

 

Paisley Townscape Heritage and Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme 2 (Paisley TH.CARS2) is a building repair and shopfront improvement grant scheme, which aims to improve historic properties and streetscape within the TH.CARS2 area to help regeneration in Paisley.
