Relaxed sketching of the environment around the museum, or inside
Meet outside rear entrance (on the Clyde River side near Tall Ship, opposite side from museum car park)
Art materials and paper provided (if you prefer you can bring a sketchbook)
The area around the Glasgow Riverside Museum is ideal for drawing, looking around, and enjoying being next to the Clyde River with views towards the Science Centre, Govan, and to the West. There is the Tall Ship, the Govan Ferry and other boats, and the building itself with its iconic zig zagging zinc roof and curves is fun to draw. There are also trees nestled next to the museum, and the Kelvin River running into the Clyde.
This is a very relaxed group, there will be no pressure to make any finished drawings, the emphasis is just to be outside together and enjoy some mark making and sketching in the location. Complete beginners are welcome. We will start with some doodly fun drawings before settling down for one or two longer drawings. We will enjoy working with our own materials pack with different papers, pencils, pens and pastels.
Blair will lead the session with some demos and give friendly guidance and suggestions if you need any help, and you will have freedom to walk around the building and area to find views and objects you would like to look at and draw. It will be nice to have some time to take in the atmosphere and being aware of the environment and details we might not have noticed before.
Come along and enjoy some fun summer drawings!
No booking is needed. Places are given on a first come first served basis. If the weather is wet we can enjoy drawing indoors instead.
