This course explores the discipline of portrait painting, where anatomical composition and scale is studied, alongside concepts of tone, colour and painterly gesture. Using varying techniques and appropriate materials the aim of this course is to complete a final successful portrait painting focused upon observational study.
Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, individual student requirements will direct this course ensuring that specific painting skills are nurtured and strengthened, and that a foundation is provided for future painting. Continual demonstration, instruction and historical references will support this progression.
Materials to involve: pencil, charcoal, oil paint (acrylic/watercolour also available)
