More than 21,000 people headed to Paisley town centre to celebrate the the beginning of the festive season in style at the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On event.
Families enjoyed a full day of free, Christmas-themed fun, with Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron carrying out the big switch on alongside Santa and X Factor stars, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie.
The gathered crowds watched as the 300-strong parade, led by Santa on his sleigh, wound its way through the streets featuring festive floats, costumed characters and choreographed displays from local community groups and professional performers.
The good times rolled as the Winter Roller Disco – a new addition to this year’s programme – had hundreds of visitors get their skates on to take a spin around the rink.
Crowds were busting their best moves at the live stage with performances; Funbox, The Swinging Santas, Nickajack Men and this year’s stage headliners, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie. Local community and school choirs also entertained visitors with classic carol performances in Paisley Abbey to help make everyone feel merry and bright.
Kids could meet the main man himself at Santa’s Grotto in The Piazza Shopping Centre, while the Coats venue was the place to be for the little ones with soft play, arts and crafts and plenty of sweet treats.
There was also a funfair, Creative Craft Trail around the town’s local cafes and businesses and Crafty Christmas Market for people to bag some items off their Christmas shopping lists.
