Renfrewshire Council’s Children’s Services directorate continually strives to provide the best outcomes for all of our children and young people.

The directorate is responsible for the delivery of services across all education establishments, childcare and criminal justice services. This allows strong and collective planning to take place giving all our children and young people the best possible chances to succeed.

As one of the first local authorities in Scotland to be graded as excellent in making progress towards raising attainment for all while closing the poverty related attainment gap, we now require a motivated individual with a belief that they can make a significant impact in improving outcomes for our children and young people.

The successful candidate will take the lead in ensuring and supporting inclusion, additional support needs and health and wellbeing across all sectors. This role will demand that you build strong relationships with Heads and staff as well as partners to ensure that we are providing high quality learning and teaching across all centres and schools.

This role, supported by a team of education managers, will also take the lead for quality improvement and school policy/planning across all establishments, enhancing our very strong quality improvement agenda.  In addition, you will lead the recruitment and retention, leadership, and development of staff.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will be able to influence continual improvement across all sectors of education provision as you will oversee the effective delivery of education across half of Renfrewshire’s schools and centres.

It is essential that you possess a degree or professional qualification in an appropriate discipline together with membership of professional institution/association.

You must also be able to demonstrate a record of achievement at senior management level in an education environment.   A thorough knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to education is also essential, together with extensive and proven experience in strategic policy development and implementation; the development and management of strategic partnerships; and service improvement.
