Creative industries

Creative industries are a growth sector for Paisley.

Paisley built its economic base on the textile and thread industries of the 18th and 19th centuries so it’s no wonder lots of creative businesses have chosen to locate here.

Key facts

  • Creative industries turnover in 2014 was £70.2m – contributing 2.55% of the turnover of our economy
  • Creative industries employed 600 people in 143 businesses in Paisley in 2014,

Paisley is producing high-quality creative industry graduates through West College Scotland and the University of the West of Scotland.

Help and support

A number of start-ups have been supported through our InCube business incubator. There is lots of help and support available for start-ups through Invest in Renfrewshire.

I would advise any other creative businesses to think about setting up in Paisley because the potential is massive – there is such a great community of creative people.
