4 things to do this weekend – 29 June

The school holidays are now underway and we’re in the middle of a heatwave – which means the summer is well and truly here!

If you’re looking for ways to spend your weekend then there are loads of great things to enjoy across Paisley and Renfrewshire, either out in the sun or in the coolness of indoors.

MZA Sneaky Fringe Previews

If you fancy taking a break from the sun, why not check out a couple of nights of hilarious comedy at Paisley Arts Centre. Enjoy a sneak peek at new work from top comics Daniel Sloss, Craig Hill, Kai Humphries and Gareth Waugh with their Edinburgh Fringe previews. These ‘work in progress’ shows are strictly 18+ and not recommended for those easily offended.

When: Friday 29 and Saturday 30 June – 7pm

Take an Explorer Challenge

Enjoy some quality time with the family outdoors in the stunning surroundings of RSPB Lochwinnoch. The nature reserve is running special self-led activities during the school holidays, with changing themes – and the theme for the first week of the holidays is Find a Dragon! Start at the Visitor centre where the friendly staff will get you started before visiting different stations along our main trail to hunt for dragons. While you’re there, try out the natural play area with tyre swing, den building area and much more.

When: Friday 29 June to Thursday 5 July – 10am – 4pm

Where: RSPB Lochwinnoch

Price: £4 per child / RSPB members £2.50 (Normal trail fees apply for adults)

Jurassic Bricks in Paisley Town Centre

“They do move in herds…” and Paisley is going to have its own Jurassic World this summer! Go exploring through the town centre as Paisley First presents the Jurassic Bricks LEGO Dinosaur Trail. There will be 15 large dinosaurs made out of LEGO bricks on the trail, which runs from Saturday 30 June until Sunday 12 August. Find all the dinosaur names to win prizes and enjoy two interactive play zones, a selfie zone and a find the Hidden Dinosaur Competition.

The Vapors at The Bungalow

The Vapors will be ‘Turning Japanese’ at The Bungalow on Sunday from 7pm. Sing along to the hit song from 1980 – which peaked at Number 3 in the UK singles chart – and more in what is sure to be an energetic set. It’s also the only Scottish date on the band’s UK tour, so make sure you don’t miss it!
