It’s set to be another great weekend in Renfrewshire with lots of great events and activities on throughout the area to keep everyone entertained – no matter what you’re interested in!
Here’s a rundown of just some of the things happening this weekend:
Paisley Art Institute 130th Annual Exhibition, Paisley Museum, 20 May – 24 June
The Paisley Art Institute’s 130th Annual Art Exhibition will contain artworks by the best contemporary talent from all over Scotland and beyond, attracted to Paisley with many prizes available to all exhibiting artists.
During the 130th Exhibition, the Institute will also encourage budding artistic talent by running the Schools’ Competition, open to Primary and Secondary Schools in Renfrewshire. The Institute will also have a programme of talks taking place during the exhibition.
Clyde Muirshiel Walking Festival, Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, Fri 26 – 28 May
The first ever Clyde Muirshiel Walking Festival aims to cater for all levels of walker, from the leisurely paced stroll to the more serious hill walker, in both pace and duration.
There are at least 3 guided walks planned for each day, coordinated by Countryside Rangers with the help and support of local walking groups. Walks will start from various locations around Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, many start at or near a train station on the line from Glasgow Central.
Erskine Motorbike Meet, Erskine Home, Bishopton, Sun 27 May – 1pm – 5pm
Now in its 12th year the Erskine Motorbike Meet will see 100s of motorbikes, trikes, scooters and mopeds take part in this popular family event in support of the Erskine Veterans Charity.
The day starts with a bike parade from Park Mains High School which goes on a circuit of Erskine town before heading to Erskine Home. The parade will be led into the main arena by a pipe band. There’s plenty for families to enjoy including live music, food and craft stalls, fairground rides, armed forces display and many more surprises on the day.
Fox and Hound Beer and Music Festival, Houston, Sun 27 May – 12 noon – 11.30pm
The popular Fox and Hound Beer Festival returns for 2018 and visitors can expect to see a lot of surprises as well as the large L-shaped outside bar, featuring a huge choice of ales, lager and cider as well as wine, prosecco, spirits and soft drinks.
There will also be plenty of tasty treats on offer including burgers, bratwursts, nachos and sausage rolls. For the kids, there will also be ice cream, candy floss and plenty of activities to keep them entertained including bouncy castles & face painting.
There will be three live music areas to make the most of the event and soak up the best of the festival atmosphere.
