With so much going on in Paisley and Renfrewshire over the next few days, we’re taking an earlier than usual look at what’s taking place in the area.
From unique, festival-style opera in a huge outdoor, tented-structure and a young writers showcase as part of the Year of the Young People 2018, to the chance to explore a range of classic cars and the great outdoors – you’ll be spoiled for choice on ways to enjoy the end of the week and the weekend.

Pagliacci by Scottish Opera
Experience opera like never-before in the specially erected Paisley Opera House that puts you right in the middle of the action. Pagliacci will be a fully immersive experience allowing you to move around the huge tented structure and follow the tale of love and jealousy from scene to scene. The Scottish Opera production also features a company of nearly 200, including The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, a cast of international soloists and a professional and community chorus, making for an unforgettable event.

Write Here Write Now
Write Here Write Now is a new young writers festival run by CREATE Paisley and PACE Youth Theatre as part of Year of the Young People 2018. The Festival Fun Day in the afternoon gives families, children and young people the opportunity to explore all forms of writing through taster workshops, activities, stalls and more. Then, in the evening, don’t miss the Young Writers Showcase of the work of 16 emerging young writers aged between 12 and 21. The programme features play excerpts, monologues, poetry and songs by Scotland’s most exciting new writing talent.

Explorer Challenge – Tree-mendous!
Spend some quality time with the family in the stunning surroundings of RSPB Lochwinnoch. Head to the visitor centre where friendly staff will get you set up and ready for your challenge. Then, visit different stations along the main trail to get close to nature and find out all about the different trees at the nature reserve.

Erskine Classic Car Show
The annual Erskine Classic Car Show returns for 2018. Come along and enjoy all the fun with over 200 cars on display, from classics models to super cars. There’s also a host of live music and entertainment, car demonstrations, guest speakers, fun fair, raffles, pop up shops and much more. All profits go to helping ex-service men and women.
