Full line-up revealed for SAMAs Paisley Takeover 2019 music festival

Tuesday 22nd January, 2019

The full line-up of stellar acts for the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs) Paisley Takeover 2019 has been revealed today (Tuesday 22 January).

The two-day music festival, which returns on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 March, will showcase some of Scotland’s top talent with music, spoken word, seminars, workshops and more taking place across various venues in the town.

This year’s Paisley Takeover will see headline performances from Mercury Prize nominee C Duncan and 2015 Scottish Album of the Year Award winner Kathryn Joseph at Paisley Arts Centre.

Garage-rock outfit Sweaty Palms will also headline the town’s historic venue, The Bungalow.

Other names announced for the festival include Michael Timmons, CRYSTAL, Pleasure Heads, and Megan Airlie.

Paisley Arts Centre will also host an In Conversation event with Mogwai musician Stuart Braithwaite of record label Rock Action Records (Mogwai/The Twilight Sad/Sacred Paws).

Two panel events will explore Paisley’s Cultural Community & Potential and Working In The Music Business, whilst 23rd Precinct Music will also host a special workshop giving insight into sync, licensing and royalties within music.

SAMAs founder Richy Muirhead said: “The festival is jam packed with music events. We’re thrilled to add the likes of CRYSTAL, who recently played a sold out gig at King Tuts, Megan Airlie, who won Best Acoustic at last year’s awards, author Chris McQueer and lots more!

“I hope the festival brings a burst of energy to Paisley and excites music fans around the country!”

SAMAs held its first Paisley Takeover last year with performances and workshops from a host of top acts, including Out Lines, Heir of the Cursed, Siobhan Wilson, SWAY, Pronto Mama and Paisley’s own The Vegan Leather.

I regularly visit the Paisley Museum and Art Galleries and Paisley Arts Centre and try to attend as many of the festivals and events in the town as possible... I particularly enjoy Sma’ Shot Day.
