Kids fun food activities around Renfrewshire

There are some great food adventures for kids to get involved in and enjoy around Renfrewshire. So if you think you’ve got a future Mary Berry or Heston Blumenthal on your hands why not take them along to some of the activities around town to help them develop their culinary talents?

Children’s Chocolate Workshops –The Cocoabean Company – Soar – intu Braehead

Kids can enter a world of chocolate heaven where they can be like Willy Wonka and make and decorate three chocolate goodies to take home! The 45 minute experience is available every day and is suitable for kids aged 3 to 18.

The experienced staff supervise and guide the children during the chocolate making workshops, while adults can watch through the viewing windows or relax in our cafe.

East Yonderton Farm – Fruit Picking

When the summer weather arrives it’s prime picking season at East Yonderton Farm where families can pick everything from strawberries, gooseberries and raspberries to peas redcurrants and potatoes.

East Yonderton is a family run Renfrewshire soft fruit farm near Inchinnan, just beside Glasgow Airport which has been growing fruit since 1926.

During the fruit season the farm is open daily for picking your own fruit and fruit can also be ordered ready picked for collection on weekdays.

Afternoon Tea at Three Sisters Bake – Quarriers Village –  Bridge of Weir

If you want to treat the kids to an indulgent sweet treat then a visit to the popular Three Sisters Bake Café in Quarriers Village for a decadent afternoon tea is a must.

You can enjoy delicious sandwiches, savoury treats, warmed scones with jam and cream, assorted cakes topped off with a pot of loose leaf tea.

The café is also known for hosting themed afternoon teas around major calendar events such as Easter and Christmas for the kids to get involved in.

Paisley Farmers’ Market – County Square – bi-weekly

Get kids interested in cooking and eating new things with a visit to the regular Paisley Farmers Market.

Featuring more than 30 producers selling everything from Aberdeen Angus Beef and west coast seafood to hand made confectionery and home baking there is plenty on offer to inspire.

Some Saturdays you’ll even see cookery demonstrations featuring famous chefs and informal musical entertainment ranging from samba bands to local pipers.
