There are plenty of great gigs and music nights to enjoy around Paisley this week – and you can find out what’s on with Tommy McGrory’s weekly guide here.
The Bungalow Bar
It seems like it has been gone for ages, but The Bungalow is back and they have a fantastic line up to kick off the new look venue. New stage, new lights, new sound but I am happy to say it will be the same old electric atmosphere that you would expect from this iconic venue. Tonight will be an amazing tribute to two classic Mancunian bands.
Friday 1 February
The Complete Stone Roses are one of the UK’s most well-known, most seen and most successful tribute bands. Selling out venues across the UK and Ireland regularly, they have helped to carry on the music of one of the UK’s most influential bands – The Stone Roses.
Definitely Oasis are regarded by many Oasis fans and promoters alike as one of the best Oasis tribute bands there is. The band regularly sells out top class venues across the UK and were recently the first ever tribute act to sell out Glasgow’s iconic Garage and Barrowlands venues in the same year.
Tickets are all gone for this gig but you may get a hand back on the night.
Saturday 2 February
If you’re into Deacon Blue, Simple Minds, The Proclaimers, Del Amitri, Hue & Cry, Frankie Miller, the Bay City Rollers, Wet Wet Wet or the Waterboys, then Saturday night at The Bungalow will be right up your street. The Re-Claimers will be performing their critically acclaimed live show packed with Scottish hits by Scottish Greats.
Tickets cost £8, gig starts 8pm.
The Old Swan
Friday 1 February – Vintage Vinyl gets underway from 8pm.
Saturday 2 February – Memphis play live from 4pm
Monday 4 February – The Casual Swans at 3pm
Wednesday 6 February – Jim Keilt’s famous jam session from 6pm
The Cave
There’s four bands in a row on offer at The Cave this week: tonight at 9pm it’s Mojo Filter, tomorrow from 6pm it’s Dirty Jewels followed by Cherry Red at 9pm and then on Sunday, Rumours will play live from 6pm.
Callum’s Cavern
Saturday 2 February
Heads up, due to the success of the recent inaugural under 18’s open mic at Callum’s Cavern, they are doing it all over again. Everyone is welcome to get along there and enjoy the young musical talent that will be on show tomorrow from 2pm. The organisers will be happy to see some familiar faces and a few new ones too. This where the music starts, pop in and support all the acts and have a great afternoon.
Also on Saturday…
Presented by A Helping Hand in aid of Bands Against Homelessness, the Cavern will be showcasing another line of talented local bands; The Mighty Walters, 2Sevens and The Red Eyes. A Helping Hand is a voluntary organisation set up in Paisley and the surrounding areas to provide hot food, teas and coffees, clothing, bedding and anything else that is necessary to support people who find themselves homeless. Tickets cost £5 on the door, plus there will be some great raffle prizes on offer. Pop along and help raise funds for this very worthwhile cause.
Open Mic Nights this week:
Monday – The Abbey Bar hosted by Dunky Hunter at 8pm plus a new night at The Afton with Stevie Johnston
Tuesday – Andy Lindsey at The Anchor from 8pm
Wednesday – Andy Lindsey at The Patter Bar from 8pm and Johnny Barr hosts at Burger and Keg from 8.30pm
