Take a look at all the gig listings around Paisley this week with local music man Tommy McGrory.
Revol Music are putting on another great line up of young up and coming bands at Callum’s Cavern tomorrow night with three bands playing on the bill. The promoters are delighted to announce that Bad Hombres, Shredd and Sobriety are coming to Paisley. This is the organisers second gig in the town – the first being December’s Baby Strange show.
Topping the bill will be Bad Hombres with their distinctive brand of politically-charged punk rock. Bad Hombres only emerged on the Glasgow music scene recently. If you’re a fan of Oasis, Kasabian, The Clash, Libertines or Franz Ferdinand, you will like these guys. Second up is Shredd – a three-piece garage/fuzz/pop band from Glasgow. Completing the line-up is Paisley’s own Sobriety, bringing a darker, more brooding, but no less powerful sound to proceedings.
Sobriety are at the heart of great pop music. The type that will endure the test of time rather than fading in your memory. What started out as a bedroom project quickly became a live band, known for their catchy melodies and their powerhouse rock style. It’s the infusion of these two elements which makes them an exciting outfit to listen to, offering a bit more than three chord guitar barrages. They’ve been compared with Interpol and the National, with a touch of Joy Division – and recently headlined a show at The Hug and Pint along with performances at Nice N Sleazy, The Old Hairdresser’s and Glasgow’s The Priory Bar.
A DJ will be spinning the best tunes around before and between sets. Doors: 7pm – 10pm
The Old Swan Inn
The Old Swan have Complete Madness back again tonight and it’s sold out once again. I’ve seen these guys before and they are outstanding. They tour all over and are coming back to Paisley because they loved the local crowd. Support act is Martin O’Neil, who’ll be bringing you some ska and UB40 warm up tunes before the main act kicks off. Doors open 6pm and you might get a hand back if you are lucky.
The Bungalow Bar
NNE are delighted to announce that they are putting on another top-class tribute band, These Smiths, at The Bungalow tomorrow night. These Smiths are recognised as one of the UK’s best tribute to The Smiths and Morrissey. Hailing from Smith’s home city of Manchester, the band formed shortly after their lead singer appeared on TV show Stars In Their Eyes. A must-see for fans of The Smiths and Morrissey and it all starts at 8pm.
The Fantastic Four in a Row at The Cave this week are Bad Boy Boogie, tonight at 9pm. Tomorrow, in the early slot at 6pm is Ikon, before Blues Mama at 9pm. On Sunday, from 6pm, it is the mighty Loanhead.
