Paisley Gig Guide – 22 June 2018

Friday 22nd June, 2018

Local music man Tommy McGrory talks you through the best of the gigs taking place in Paisley this weekend.

The Dekay are at The Bungalow tonight from 8pm. There was a bit of concern that the gig was off but I’m glad to report it is definitely on – and what’s more, it is free entry.

Young local guitarist who cut his teeth with Paisley band Palladium, Ryan Gormley, is the newest and youngest member of the band and he is looking forward to play in his home town.

Not only that, The Bungalow is his favourite venue having attended it regularly to see all sorts of band from Mod to Rock and Punk to Pop. He assures me that there is a huge contingent of regulars and family that are coming along to give him some well deserved support.

The band is just back from London where they supported Menace and say that every gig they play is special. This time it is a bit more special as Ryan will be playing a ‘home tie’.

Summit headlines Callums Cavern tonight. They are a 4-piece Rock Band based in Paisley/Glasgow and have been together for two years. In February 2017 they released a 3-track EP called The Tyrant, which received great reviews.

In support are Fantanas and Matthew McNish. Fantanas are a two piece crew from Johnstone, featuring guitar and drums. Mathew McNish is a singer songwriter and he completes this cracking line up of young talent. Tickets are £7 on the door and you get free entry to Viennas night club in Paisley with your ticket. Doors are at 8pm.

Another packed weekend looks likely at The Cave again with Midnight Moses kicking things off tonight at 9pm. Rule of Three are in the early slot tomorrow at 6pm with popular duo, Ikon, playing the late slot at 9pm until late o’clock. To round things off Crawford Carlyle fronts classic rock band Heavy Load, who are playing on Sunday from 6pm.

FreeSpeech are at The Old Swan tonight from 8pm and the venue has Epic on tomorrow at 4pm. The Casual Swans are back for the Monday afternoon party at 3pm, then on Wednesday it is the turn of Alex Wayt who will be playing from 6pm.

Open Mic Nights next week are:

Tonight: Stevie Johnstone at Hamishes Hoose from 8pm.

Sunday: The Bungalow with Cat Caldwell from 8pm.

Monday: The Abbey Bar hosted by Dunky Hunter at 8pm.

Tuesday: Andy Lindsey at The Anchor from 8pm.

Wednesday: Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg from 8pm and Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar from 8pm.

Thursday: Manhattan’s at 8pm.

Support your local venues and keep music live.

Paisley has a good reputation with the bands – they want to play to a crowd that appreciates them and they get that here.
