There are plenty of great gigs and music nights to enjoy around Paisley this week – and you can find out what’s on with Tommy McGrory’s weekly guide here:
The Old Swan Inn
New kids on the block and getting themselves heard on the circuit is local band Proposal. The band has just formed recently and is already getting a reputation for playing a brand of well-known rock and pop favourites. If you want to find out why they are picking up fans wherever they play, see them tonight at The Old Swan from 8pm.
The band are taking bookings for weddings so, if you’ve popped the question or just about to, this would be a good opportunity to check them out.
The Old Swan are continuing with another double bill tomorrow starting with The Lockhearts at 4pm. Following them is Epic at 8pm. Epic have been making music since 1984 with bands like Midnight Illusions, Mr Pink, Pretzel Logic, Notorious, Don’t Talk, Buffalo, Pure, Lojik, Pick Up The Pieces and Park Bench Heroes (to name a few!…..).
In 2012, members of both Pure and Park Bench Heroes were brought together to continue their passion of playing live music. With over 25 years experience these guys know their stuff. If you’re into live music and a good night out, pop into The Swan and hear Epic do their thang – you won’t be disappointed.
The Casual Swans are back on Monday with a mission to wash the Monday blues away and they certainly will do that. They will be playing at 3pm, then on Wednesday. The Pre Fab Four are also on on Monday and Wednesday at 6pm
The Cave has another Fab Four in a Row over the weekend starting tonight with The Signs at 9pm.
Tomorrow in the early slot it is Gordon’s Alive then, at 9pm, it’s Black Triangles. Finishing off a great weekend feast of live music is Heavy Load at 6pm.
I popped into Harvies last week for a moment just to check out what is going on at Paisley’s newest live venue – and it was jumping. Carrying on with their live programme this week, it’s Slim Pickings tomorrow night at 9pm.
On Sunday The Anchor have got The Cassettes performing from 4pm.
Meanwhile, I hear that tickets are flying out the door for The Bungalow events when it reopens. The double header with The Complete Stone Roses and Definitely Oasis is already sold out and there are limited tickets left for The Reclaimers next Saturday.
Speaking of tickets, I’m a bit old fashioned and sometimes you just can’t beat that feeling of purchasing or picking up that gig ticket from the venue. I remember queuing up outside The Apollo as a teenager in the cold and rain to get tickets for a show.
We all love E-Tickets – of course we do – but sometimes it’s great to head down to a venue to see what’s on and make up your mind there and then. Maybe you’ll even buy more than one ticket? Who knows? But a physical box office goes hand in hand with a successful venue.
So great news – as of this week the venue has opened a brand-new box office for your convenience and enhanced gig experience.
