There’s loads of great gigs taking place in Paisley this weekend – and Tommy McGrory of Loud ‘n’ Proud gives you the complete guide to what’s on.
There’s a great gig tonight in Paisley as The Mighty Walters play at The Bungalow.
The Mighty Walters cover classic Punk/New Wave and Ska and recently re-formed, having originally stopped in 1996. The show is free entry and starts at 8pm.
Tomorrow night, H2O front man and member of the Four Good Men, Ian McDonald, brings his unique brand of music to the Bungalow.
This extremely talented artist has been touring to packed crowds for decades and always gives you your monies worth. Ruthless Artistes and The Bungalow have teamed up to ensure you the cheapest ticket possible (compared to his other gigs). Get down from 8pm and give him a fantastic reception. Tickets are £14
On Sunday, for one night only, Swampcandy from the USA will be playing some dirty Americana and primitive blues – and you’ll be possessed by the duo’s infectious rhythms.
Ruben Dobbs’ aggressive finger-picking and rhythmic style combined with Joey Mitchell’s bass playing, pounding kick drum and percussive bass throttling (representing the presence of a full drum kit) easily fill up the sonic space normally created by a trio or a four-piece.
Dobbs’ soulful, passionate vocals are the glue that holds it all together and makes the band tick. The band was founded by Dobbs in 2007 and functioned with various line-ups until he teamed up with Joey Mitchell in 2010 and the permanent die was cast.
Whether it’s a 20-minute opening slot or a three-hour headlining gig they give 110% in every performance, leaving the stage exhausted and the crowd satisfied. The gig starts at 7pm.
Underwood Lane are on at The Old Swan tonight from 8pm. Tomorrow is the turn of Earl Blue and the Sessions from 4pm in The Shoppers Slot. The Spuds are back on Monday with their brand of traditional, Americana and cotemporary tunes from 3pm. Amanda Williams will also be performing on Wednesday from 6pm.
The Cave have another Famous Four weekend starting with Second Hand News tonight from 9pm. There’s live action all weekend as 117 play at 6pm tomorrow, followed by a 9pm performance from Gordons Alive. Rumours take the Sunday night slot from 6pm.
John and Jim of Casper and Co are at The Anchor on Sunday from 4pm. This experienced duo are well known for getting every venue they play absolutely jumping and are well worth getting along to and seeing. On Monday, Jen is your host for an afternoon of song at 4pm.
The Tea Gardens have Fools Circle playing on Sunday from 6pm.
Also be sure to check out the live music at Burger and Keg tonight and tomorrow night at 9pm.
