Paisley Weekly Gig Guide – 9 November 2018

Check out this week’s fun with music nights and gigs galore in Paisley – there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes!

Tonight is a return date for Bad Boy Boogie at The Bungalow. They are a rock band from Ayrshire, covering the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Bryan Adams, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Billy Idol, AC/DC and even a bit of rocked up ABBA. They will be on stage from 9pm and it is free entry.

Tomorrow night, the East Kilbride based Ska band Skaledonia will get you on your feet by playing classic Ska from the likes of The Specials, Bad Manners etc. There’s also a few Ska’d up Clash numbers for good measure. Starts at 8pm and it is £3 on the door.

The regular feast of young and up and coming bands continues at The Bungalow on Thursday and this week the venue is delighted to introduce you to: Magic Trick with support from Velvetbomb and Ohnova.

Magic Trik have been playing the Scottish gig circuit for the past three years, with their raw and fuzzalicious blues rock and performing alongside the Likes of Altered Sky, Courtesans, and Voodoo Blood. Since being taken under the wing of Reaction Management (Altered Sky, Take Today, and Fear Me December) they are currently in pre-production, working on a follow up to their current EP ‘Your Wings To Fly’. The band plans to promo their new music, which promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a series of shows across Scotland and the UK.

Brooding with dark energy, Velvetbomb are a Glasgow two-piece with razor edge riffs, pounding drums and cutting vocals creating high octane hard rock.

Formed in 2017, Ohnova are a Glasgow-based alternative/desert rock band. A power trio, members Paul Morton (bass/vocals), Matthew Sharp (guitar) and Ciaran Whyte (drums) make music that focuses on big riffs and bigger melodies. As usual this fantastic evening is free entry and it all starts at 7.30pm.

Tonight at Hamishes Hoose, The Republic of Soul eight-piece band from Glasgow will be pounding out music guaranteed to fill any dance floor. Their set features soul classics from all the greats, including Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Sam and Dave and some more contemporary soulful numbers from the likes of Amy Winehouse and Paul Weller. The big band with the big sound starts at 9pm

Midnight Moses are playing tonight in The Old Swan from 8pm and tomorrow. in ‘The Shopper’s Slot’, from 4pm is The Dead Flowers. On Monday, The Casual Swans are back with their regular party afternoon at 3pm. On Wednesday, the creative Graeme Kerr kicks off at 6pm.

This week’s four in a row at The Cave is: tonight at 9pm One One Seven, tomorrow in the early slot at 6pm The Signs and later at 9pm Sad Ida. Midnight Moses finishes off a great weekend on Sunday at 6pm. Al Mitchell will be setting the atmosphere at Zambretto Wine Bar tomorrow night from 8.30pm.

  • Wednesday: Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg 8pm and Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar from 8pm
  • Thursday: Manhattan’s at 8pm

Paisley has a good reputation with the bands – they want to play to a crowd that appreciates them and they get that here.
