Monday 20th August, 2018

Thousands took to the streets of Paisley on Sunday 19 August for the town’s annual 10k Road Race and Fun Run.

Almost 3,500 runners took part in the two events – which was organised by Renfrewshire Leisure –including athletes and fancy dress runners who laced up their trainers to raise funds for charities, local clubs and good causes.

This year’s Paisley 10k race had £2320 of prize money and trophies were presented to fun runners.

There were also prizes for the first three boys and girls from primary and secondary schools to cross the finish line.

The Paisley 10k Race men’s winner was Euan Gillham, from Kilbarchan AAC with a time of 30 minutes 47 seconds. Second place in the men’s race went to Lachlan Oats, from Shettleston Harriers, with a time of 31 minutes 13 seconds and third was Daniel Bradford, also from Shettleston Harriers with a time of 31 minutes 21 seconds.

Fancy training for next year's 10k?

Wandering down cobbled wynds, up hidden stairs, going inside the wonderful green-roofed abbey and finding the tomb of Marjorie Bruce – what a revelation. Paisley is so rich with history – and I started wondering – why do we not shout about this place more? Why don’t we tell Paisley’s story to the world?
