A brand new exhibition of creative work has opened at Paisley Museum and Art Galleries – and here’s everything you need to know about it.
The Beyond Our Limits exhibition showcases the creative and personal artwork by members of an art group at Paisley’s Disability Resource Centre.
Group members have been meeting once a week to create sculptures and artwork using both conventional and re-cycled materials under the guidance of local artist, Kevin Cantwell.
The work can be seen in the museum’s Sculpture Court and will be the last showing in the space before Paisley Museum closes for a multi-million pound refurbishment.
Kevin Cantwell has previously created artwork for local projects, including the Paisley First Wall Murals series – and his stunning work can be seen in the town’s Lady Lane.
The Beyond Our Limits exhibition is in partnership between Renfrewshire Leisure, Renfrewshire Disability Arts Forum and the Disability Resource Centre.
David Crichton, Renfrewshire Disability Arts Forum trustee, said: “We are naturally proud of the work our artists produce – as rich in variety as in form.
“At the Forum, we are as keen as ever that participatory art should be for all, and we know it benefits health and wellbeing.
“Participation in group activity such as this delivers a boost to mental health, fights isolation and an exhibition such as this raises visibility of capability.
Don’t miss The Beyond Our Limits exhibition, which will run at Paisley Museum until September 8.
