Paisley Gig Guide this week – 24 August 2018

Friday 24th August, 2018

Another packed weekend of live music and gigs is upon us – and you can find out what’s on in Paisley with local music man Tommy McGrory.

The quality of bands playing in pubs today is fantastic and what is even more amazing is that it is all free! So, if eating, drinking and music are what you like to do then get into Paisley – why go anywhere else? With great pubs, fantastic restaurants and loads of live music, you are spoiled for choice.

If you’re into R.E.M. then this is for you. NNE has brought Stipe back to Paisley for another great night. They are the definitive tribute to one of the biggest bands in rock music and they have performed the songs of R.E.M. to thousands of people worldwide. You will remember that R.E.M. built a towering back catalogue with top hits including Shiny Happy People, Everybody Hurts, Man on the Moon, Losing My Religion and more.

Stipe work hard to create that authentic sound and the five-piece rehearse constantly to give R.E.M. Fans what they want. The set list is full of the hits and the songs from the albums that you might not have heard for a while. R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe has heard the band perform live and he declared: “These guys are awesome.” The gig is tonight (Friday 24 August) and starts at 8pm – tickets are £12.

If you are into the 80’s, The Electro80s will be playing The Bungalow tomorrow (Saturday) night. The band pay tribute to the 80’s era, featuring Red, Blue, Green and Robotic dancer Manochrome. They have lovingly recreated songs that made the 80’s to create a live entertainment show that’s sure to transport everyone from this generation, back to the days of underground club scenes and even school discos.

Unforgettable classics like “Fade to Grey” and “Just Can’t Get Enough” are performed alongside lesser-known tracks, which will jog your memory in a nostalgic show that is both visually and acoustically stunning. Tickets are £10 and doors are at 8pm.

The Old Swan welcomes back the very talented Audiorayz who kick off at 8pm tonight (Friday). In the ‘Shoppers Slot’ at 4pm tomorrow is Dirty Work. The Casuals Swans will be in their usual slot at 3pm on Monday for some music, banter and dancing. On Wednesday, Heavy Load’s acoustic set will start at 6pm.

The ‘Four In A Row’ this weekend at The Cave starts with Fifth Element tonight (Friday) at 9pm then tomorrow, in the early slot, is Overdrive at 6pm followed by Back in the Day at 9pm. On Sunday, Los Perros are performing from 6pm. The Anchor has Casper and Co in on Sunday from 4pm and The Tea Gardens have The P90s starting at 6pm

A big rock night is coming to Paisley as Callum’s Cavern is set to host two of the UK’s top tribute acts to Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne. Ride the crazy train to the sanatorium tomorrow night. Tickets are £10 and doors are at 7pm.

Open Mic Nights next week are:
