The weekend is upon us once again – and it’s time to take a look at what’s on in Renfrewshire.

Car enthusiasts can see supercars and rare automobiles on display at a special event in Paisley town centre. There’s top gigs and nights out for music lovers and special open day for all the family to enjoy too.

So, whether you’re out with friends, spending some quality time with the family or flying solo, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the area this weekend.


CarFest – Paisley town centre – Saturday – 10am

Head along to CarFest to see all manner of vehicles – no matter how old, how big or how many wheels! See everything from Minis to muscle cars as fine automobiles line Paisley’s Gilmour Street and High Street. This fundraising event for St Vincent’s Hospice will also have loads for the family, with stalls, games, music and more. The event is organised by MaxSafe Training and sponsored by Paisley First.

Transmission & True Order: The Influence of Factory Records – The Bungalow – Saturday – 8pm

Transmission and True Order pay homage to two of Factory Records most pivotal artists and two of the most influential bands of the 70s and 80s – Joy Division and New Order. Enjoy classic hits, including Blue Monday, True Faith, Love Will Tear Us Apart and many more. Head along to The Bungalow to celebrate the impact that these bands and Factory Records had on music and popular culture.

RSPB Lochwinnoch Open Day for Nature – Sunday – 11am

Head to RSPB Lochwinnoch to discover as many different creatures, plants and fungi on the reserve as you can at a special, free open day. Experts from a wide range of organisations will be on hand to help introduce you to wildlife and help you identify what runs, swims, flies or simply grows here at the fantastic nature reserve. Try your hand at pond dipping, bug hunting, bird spotting or take a stroll along the trails looking for wildflowers. Kids can also enjoy fun times in the natural play area while the cosy visitor centre offers fantastic views of the reserve.

The Spree Festival – Tickets On Sale Now!

Finally, just a wee reminder that tickets for Paisley’s annual The Spree festival are now on sale! Don’t miss a top line-up of music and comedy, including Glasvegas, Gruff Rhys, Hue and Cry, PP Arnold, Gerry Rafferty Songbook evening, Karine Polwart’s Scottish Songbook, Jerry Sadowitz and much more this October. The festival takes place over nine days, from 11 – 19 October with the bulk of the action in the spectacular Spiegeltent beside Paisley Gilmour Street station. There will also be ‘wee Spree’ programme of activities for kids to coincide with the school holidays and a Spree for All fringe festival with events across towns and villages in Renfrewshire – more info on these to be announced soon!
