Paisley will be filled with the sound of the bagpipes as the British Pipe Band Championships return on Saturday.

Thousands of world’s top pipers and drummers will compete at the event for a full day of free, family fun.

British Pipe Band Championships – St James Playing Fields, Paisley – Saturday – 10am – 7pm

Get set for the skirl of the pipes and beat of the drums! Over 120 of the world’s best pipe bands will compete at the British Pipe Band Championships at the St James Playing Fields, Paisley. The full day of piping fun begins from 10am-7pm. There’s also a Highland Games / strongman competition, Highland dancing, family entertainment and a food village – so, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy!

The Dark Carnival: Unplugged – Paisley Arts Centre – Friday – 7:30pm

Before the Pipe Band Championships, head to Paisley Arts Centre to enjoy the exciting Dark Carnival: Unplugged. With songs, spoken word and a free (not compulsory!) glass of whisky, this is the story of newcomers to the afterlife who are surprised to discover that death is not actually the end. Intrigued? Teardrop All-Dayer – The Bungalow – Saturday – 2:30pm – 1am

Eleven bands; one full day of top live music. Lead Boot Records are bringing the Teardrop All-Dayer to Paisley’s Bungalow venue. The teardrop design is ingrained in Paisley’s history and culture, so it is an appropriate name for one of the town’s biggest gigs of the year so far. Head along and see a fantastic bill with some of the finest Scottish acts around.

Gryffe Valley 10k Run – Sunday – 1pm

Get your running shoes on and take part in the Gryffe Valley 10k this Sunday. Starting at 1pm, the route takes you through country lanes between Houston, Bridge of Weir and Kilmacolm, starting from Houston Public Park. The race is available to all abilities from serious runners to novices/joggers and everyone will receive a medal, official time, and goodie bag. Registration begins at 11am at West Church Halls, Houston.
