A great place to study

Paisley is a town is bursting with creative flair, energy and inspiration.

It’s the ideal location when it comes to student life. Not only is it home to the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and West College Scotland (WCS), but it is only ten minutes by train to Glasgow city centre which has the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University and the Glasgow School of Art.

The town was known as a bit of a music rebel back in the day. When Glasgow city centre banned all punk concerts, Paisley took the opportunity to welcome them with open arms. As proud as we are of our history, we have loads to shout about in the present too. The town has a vibrant music and entertainment scene which is happening all around us.

You’ll never go hungry in Paisley, the town has plenty of restaurants and bars which frequently host live music events, and free town centre WIFI  is due to launch in 2018.

Intu Braehead Shopping Centre is only a short bus ride away and has over 1.1 million square foot of pure retail therapy as well as a ski slope, climbing, bowling and a bar made completely from ice…you will not be short of things to keep you entertained.

Student accommodation in Paisley is the perfect balance of affordable and stylish apartments located in the heart of Paisley. MyPad Paisley and UWS both have competitively priced luxury student accommodation.

Don't forget the social life!

Paisley is a great place to work. I’m newly graduated and I’m delighted to have a job on the graduate internship programme - it’s allowing me to put my skills into practice in a local business.

Many urban areas would love to have a measure of the pedigree that this post-industrial conurbation boasts. Aside from its textile legacy, and illustrious denizens, Paisley has an incredible architectural heritage, from the 12th-Century Abbey, with its glorious Edward Burne-Jones windows, to its Victorian Observatory, to the stunning Art Deco Russell Institute.
