Amazing buildings in Johnstone are opening their doors to the public as part of Renfrewshire’s Doors Open Days 2019.

Johnstone Community Sports Hub

Beith Road, Johnstone PA5 0JA

Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 5pm

Packed full of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, this community hub is well worth a visit.

 

Johnstone History Museum

Inside Morrisons, Napier Street, Johnstone PA5 8SF

Saturday and Sunday, 10.30am – 4pm

See photographs, maps and fascinating objects from Johnstone’s proud industrial heritage, including the famous Paton’s Mill shoelace factory and the lesser known mousetrap factory! There will be a special display about the history of working horses plus a quiz for kids too.

Johnstone Community Fire Station

Kings Road, Johnstone PA5 9HW

Saturday, 10am – 6pm

Learn what it takes to be a fire fighter and get a closer look at the kit and equipment that helps keep firemen safe when responding to an emergency.

 

Johnstone Town Hall

25 Church Street, Johnstone PA5 8FA

Saturday, 9am – 1.30pm

This award-winning building is home to whole host of modern community facilities including Johnstone library, a theatre space, ceremony suite, conference space, a coffee shop, meeting spaces and even a police office.

 

Sunday

Johnstone Credit Union

26 Church Street, Johnstone PA5 8DU

Sunday, 11am – 2pm

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Johnstone’s Credit Union will showcase its legacy with an exhibition of its achievements. There will also be plenty of photo opportunities behind the counter plus kids can learn about the animals printed on today’s banknotes.

Johnstone High Parish Church

Ludovic Square, Johnstone PA5 8EE

Sunday, 10.30am – 2pm

This unusual octagonal shaped church has been a place of worship since 1792. Inside, there’s a gallery that seats 250 – 300 people and outside the church spire has clock faces pointing north, south, east and west. Listen out for the bells chiming when you visit and test your knowledge with a quick quiz.
