Let’s party like it’s 1856! This year’s Sma’ Shot Day celebrations will see a full afternoon of free fun at the Main Stage on Paisley’s Witherspoon Street.
From music, dance and theatre to the booming sound of the Charleston Drummers – you won’t want to miss these amazing performances after the traditional Sma’ Shot Day parade.
12.45pm – 1.00pm – Main Stage opens
Gus from Pulse FM will welcome the Sma’ Shot Parade groups back to their roots in the streets around the historic Sma’ Shot Cottage as the afternoon of Main Stage fun begins in Witherspoon Street.
1.00pm – 1.15pm – Trade Union Speeches
Series of speeches from local trade unions.
1.30pm – 1.45pm – PACE present “Sma’ Shot Story”
PACE Youth Theatre present a dramatic re-enactment of the Sma’ Shot Story and the events surrounding the 19th-century victory by the town’s weavers over their bosses for payment of the Sma’ Shot.
2.00pm -2.30pm – Starlight Music Theatre’s Rock Choir
Starlight’s rock choir will perform a contemporary and uplifting mini concert.
2:45pm – 3:30pm – Starlight Music Theatre’s Swing Band
Starlight’s swing band will perform a mix of 20s and 30s swing and big band tunes, while swing dancers perform demos and offer instruction sure to get you on the dance floor.
3.45pm – 4.15pm – A Pageant of Paisley
Community performers from the Paisley Players, the South End Action Centre and the Star Project present a series of street performances – devised with Grinagog Theatre Company – which explore the town’s history and reference 1929’s Pageant of Paisley. Funded through Paisley TH.CARS2.
4.30pm – 5.00pm – Charleston Drummers ‘School of Rock’
Traditional Sma’ Shot drumming meets rock band! Loud ‘n’ Proud rock school bring together talented drummers of all ages to perform a thrilling finale on the Main Stage.
