About Taiji Qigong
Qigong has long been part of Chinese culture and now here is a chance to practise this ancient health exercise technique within the museum. Comprising mind, movement and breath co-ordination, Qigong has a recorded history stretching back over two thousand years to the related practice of Daoyin.
It plays a prominent role in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the ‘internal’ Martial Arts such as Taiji Quan also known as TaiChi. These sessions will explore the basic principles of Qigong through participation.
The ‘Forms’ feature movement and breathing guided by the mind in combinations of stretching, bending and stepping. The early forms of Qigong are initially less complicated than the multi-movement forms of Taiji Quan but are, as they say, easy to learn but a lifetime to master!
We will, however, explore some aspects of those related disciplines such as TaiChi.
Each session will also feature some enjoyable warm-up exercises.
In all sessions participants will be able to work to their own soft/safe limits. All sessions are non-contact.__
