Climate Café at The Burrell Collection

Saturday 20 April, 2024

Young People aged 16 – 26 are invited to discuss the climate emergency and create beauty from waste.

Are you a young person between 16 and 26-years-old interested in environmental topics?

Do you have feelings, concerns or thoughts about the climate crisis that you would like to share? Are you interested in meeting with like-minded people within beautiful settings?

Then the Burrell Collection’s Climate Café might be for you!

A Climate Café is an informal safe space in which everyone is invited to come and share questions and feelings regarding the climate crisis and other environmental events (loss of biodiversity, plastic pollution, etc.).

The Burrell Collection is a museum situated in a park, holder of a rich collection, and engaged in sustainable endeavours. Many of our objects hold environmental stories, and are as relevant to the past as they are to the present and future. As such, it is important for us to support conversations on such pressing current topics.

On April 20th, in an early celebration of Earth Day (which will take place on April 22nd), we are inviting young people (16-26) to join us for our first ever Climate Café. This is a free event, and you don’t need to have any particular knowledge, experience nor qualifications to attend.

As well as creating a space for self-expression and community-building, we hope that our Climate Café can support you in feeling more empowered and supported. Therefore, the workshop will be divided in two sessions: an informal discussion time, lasting about 45 minutes, and a practical workshop of around 45 minutes, where we will learn to make beauty out of waste.

If you would like to attend this event but have any accessibility requirements or questions that you would like to share with us ahead of it, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at BurrellLearning@glasgowlife.org.uk

We look forward to meeting you!
