Have you seen the new skate spot at Riverside Museum?
Built into the very fabric of the iconic building’s footprint, is an urban sports skate spot with five built in obstacles to slide and grind along and is the only one of its kind in Glasgow.
This world class space is for everyone and fuses urban sport, visual art, design and active travel, and is located at the side of Riverside Museum beside the opening of new Govan – Partick Bridge.
To celebrate the opening of this new urban sports space, Riverside Museum is hosting a Skate Spot Jam alongside our pals at Glasgow Urban Sports.
It’s a day to celebrate all things skateboarding and we’d love you to join us! Whether you are a seasoned pro, a novice or just want to try it out, we’d love to see you there.
From 10-2pm join us for come and try (bike and skate workshops) sessions. All you need is a pair of trainers – boards, bikes, helmets and pads are all provided. This session is best suited for age 8 plus. These sessions are on full sized skateboards with smaller ramps and bikes for all abilities and sizes. These sessions are hosted by The Loading Bay, supported by Glasgow Life Sport.
From 2 – 5pm it’s Jam time where boarders are invited to show off their skills, tricks and manoeuvres. It’s your chance to see elite boarders at the top of their game. Watch as they step up to the rail and spin flips, grind bars and win prizes! Don’t miss the skills competition for under 16s, with top skate style prizes. It’s a day to celebrate, meet enthusiasts old and new, hear great music, eat street food and be immersed in skateboard culture.
You can simply watch in awe or grab a board and take part. Everyone is welcome!
Tunes on the day are provided by Compact Disco Defender with loaded nachos and gourmet hotdogs served up by the Big Feed Firedog truck.
