Aerial hoop and group acrobatics workshops with internationally recognised instructors

Monday 19 February, 2024

Are you willing to challenge yourself with something new? Or do you want to learn a different approach to develop your skills on aerial hoop and group acrobatics? Then you’re welcome to come to these one-off masterclass workshops.

They are led by industry experts Pedro Melle e Cruz and Nickolle de Abreu, teacher training graduates of the Ecole National de Cirque in Montreal, Canada – one of the most elite schools in the world.

Circocan is one of the main schools in Latin America, so Pedro and Nicky’s experience goes from kids and teenagers, through adult recreational students, all the way to professional development.

Group acrobatics with Pedro

If you’re at the beginner level, you’ll get some cool balances and stuff like two-ups done, and in the process you’ll gain solid technical foundations that you can build on (your next step could be Sam’s classes or The Easter Edge!).

If you’re intermediate or advanced level…well, the sky’s the limit! Having trained at the prestigious Ecole National de Cirque in Montreal, Canada, and in Beijing, Pedro can get you to you nail the move that’s been frustratingly elusive, or teach you something completely new – he loves to keep up with contemporary works and is so well connected that he’s forever a guest at performances by all the big circus companies.

Aerial hoop with Nickolle

Nicky’s approach to hoop is different to most people’s, because of her training with the Brazilian national rhythmic gymnastic squad.

As well as spins, she is great with using rhythm and pace along with the shapes – fast and slow, dynamic and static. You can see how the high-level gymnastic training has been incorporated into her hoop work.

Nicky and Pedro have more than 20 years of expertise in acrobatics, gymnastics and circus. Pedro’s speciality is acrobatics and group acrobatic arts, while Nicky’s is aerial hoop.

Their background includes:

• The Brazilian national gymnastics team
• Training at Beijing International Arts School in China
• Founding the successful international circus school Circocan in Brazil
• Exchange programmes between Brazil, Europe and North America
• Developing artists all over the world
• Leading the programme at the USA’s Camp Medolark
• Collaborations with Cirque du Soleil, AIDA Cruises, NASA and others

Their approach is focused on technical detail. They develop not only aerial and acrobatic skills but autonomy, so you can keep researching and building your knowledge after the workshop.

Their method gives useful tools, and generates a high energy and welcoming atmosphere.
