Saturday 18 March, 2023

Please note that tickets for Saturday’s practical sessions are now sold out

Join us for our latest Creative Masterclass where we will take a deep dive into The Burrell Collection’s world renowned tapestry collection, exploring the history and future of weaving in Scotland.

Running across two days, there will be opportunities for talks and discussion, a chance to get involved with a practical weaving session and much more.

On day one you will hear from experts in the field of textiles and find out more about The Burrell Collection tapestries, including those from our Medieval and Renaissance collections. We will also discuss the artistic value, nature and identity of 21st century tapestry as a distinctive Scottish art form with specialist talks from the renowned Dovecot Studios. [https://dovecotstudios.com/about] Established in Edinburgh in 1912, at the same time William Burrell was collecting tapestries, Dovecot Studios have been expertly weaving in Scotland for over 100 years.
