Creative Masterclass: Degas – Modern Life in Pastels (Day 1)

Thursday 18 July, 2024

Join us at the Burrell Collection as we delve deeper into the content and techniques of Edgar Degas. In this 2 day session (Thurs 18th July and Saturday 20th July) you will hear from experts in the subject matter that Degas chose to paint and in the medium he chose to use. You can come to both days or just one – it is up to you.

DAY 1 – PRESENTATIONS FROM SPEAKERS: THURSDAY 18TH JULY 10 AM – 4 PM

DAY 2 – PRACTICAL PASTELS SESSION WITH ARTIST: SATURDAY 20TH JULY 10 – 4 PM

On day one we will be joined by Pippa Stephenson, Exhibition co-curator and curator of European Art at Glasgow museums, Dr Robyne Calvert from University of Glasgow, Ann Evans who conserved and made ready many of the works on display and practising artist Fiona Blakey who specialises in using pastels to create scenes of modern life.
