Dynasty – the Stewards, Coats & Clarks Heritage Project 2017 – TH.CARS2 Archive

March 2017 – December 2017

Lil Brookes a local social historian and artist was appointed to work with participants from The Disability Resource Centre and Roar – Connections for Life to explore the family trees of 3 influential families from Paisley’s past. Lil led weekly workshops over a 9 month period where participants learnt how to use online resources and how to access the archives held at Renfrewshire Libraries’ Heritage Centre In addition both groups visited historical sites and museum collections in Renfrewshire connected to each family. A unique feature of the workshops was Lil’s ‘Sensing History’ methodology which she employed to make research more accessible to participants with sensory impairments. The project was supported by DRC and Roar’s Digital Participation Team which enabled participants’ findings to be collated digitally as an online resource The Dynasty Story Map & Quiz This was launched publicly on 28th Nov 2017 at UWS.
