We are committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling at Paisley Halloween Festival.
Waste reduction and re-cycling
We are committed to reducing waste and promoting re-cycling at this event.
We encourage you to re-cycle your waste in the coloured bins provided across the event site while attending the event.
Our food & drink traders are committed to no use of single-use plastics, in favour of compostable products where possible.
Local traders and suppliers
To help reduce transport and travel emissions, as well as to boost the local economy, many festival traders and suppliers are local to Renfrewshire, and or Scotland based.
Our traders are encouraged to use locally produced and seasonal ingredients.
Generators powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil
Where possible, generators supplied for the event are powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), which is a renewable diesel fuel produced from vegetable oils or animal fats, offering a lower-carbon alternative to traditional fossil fuels, and can be used as a drop-in replacement for diesel.
Sustainable Transport
Paisley has lots of great transport links around Renfrewshire and Glasgow, with fast train routes to Glasgow and beyond, and regular local bus routes. Parking is limited around Paisley Town Centre, so it could be easier, and cheaper, to take public transport. See our ‘getting there’ section on paisley.is
Halloween Costumes
Reuse or Repurpose Costumes
Before buying new, check what you already have at home, such as last year’s costume, old clothes, or accessories can be reimagined into something new. A bit of creativity goes a long way, and repurposing items helps reduce textile waste, which increases during seasonal events like Halloween.
Shop Second-Hand or Online Resale
Instead of buying brand-new costumes, explore local charity shops or online platforms like Vinted. You’ll often find unique pieces at low prices, and you’ll be supporting circular fashion while cutting down on the environmental impact of fast fashion.
Get Creative with DIY Costumes
Homemade costumes are often the most memorable and the most sustainable. Use items you already own, like cardboard, fabric scraps, old sheets, or face paint, to create something original. There are lots of online tutorials to help you turn everyday materials into spooky masterpieces.
