Our Shared Cultural Heritage (OSCH) | Crafting Histories at The Burrell Collection

Saturday 9 September, 2023

Join us to celebrate Crafting Histories, a project exploring the shared South Asian heritage of Glasgow and our twin city Lahore, Pakistan, through traditional craft practices and museum collections.

Our Shared Cultural Heritage (OSCH) experiments with new ways for museums and heritage sector to work better for young people. The project is led by people aged 11-25 and looks at how these sectors can become more relevant, engaging and accessible spaces to explore and connect with others to create new opportunities for young people.

Over the past 3 months, a group of five young people in Glasgow have been collaborating with participants in our twin city Lahore on _Crafting Histories_ – exploring craft practices and storytelling traditions represented in the collections and sites of the Burrell Collection, the Walled City of Lahore, and National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan. Participants have developed their own creative responses including artworks, poetry, talks and a tour which they will share in this event.

Hear from participants, see their creative responses, and make new connections with the Collection.

Join us from 11am in our access core on Level 0 (next to the restaurant) to hear a series of talks and presentations from young people working on the project. In the afternoon, join a free guided tour which will take you on a journey through objects in our collection relating to the project and the work which has been produced.

This event is free and suitable for all.
