Stitch your own Puzzlewear Jumper

Saturday 4 - Saturday 4 December, 2021

SPOT is thrilled to have the fantastic Almaborealis with us for two sessions; this session is for Adults and Accompanied Children.
Join Maija to create your own ‘Puzzlewear’ woollen jumper! You’ll use pre-made wool panels in colours Grey, Mandarin or Royal Blue (Pantone colours of the year 2020 + 2021), construct your garment using hand stitching techniques. and personalise your creation using your own personal style and knitted pockets.

Children will use a blunt chunky wooden needle and 100% wool yarn to enrich the tactile experience of assembling the panels together. Adults will be able to use a metal tapestry needle. Each workshop, for both adults and children, will provide a set of practice cards to master four basic hand stitches.

Workshop tickets will be on sale until 19th November to enable Maija to make the panels.
Suitable for any level of experience, aged 6+ – Children must be accompanied by an adult.
All materials included, though you’re welcome to bring your own fabrics along to add to your garment.

Maija will be in touch to ask which garment sizes you require. If you have any further questions in the meantime, please contact her at maija@almaborealis.com

Maija Nygren is an Edinburgh based knitwear designer, originally from Finland. Maija set up Almaborealis as a kidswear design lab to explore ways to create opportunities for children to get more involved in making clothing. Prior to this, Maija worked in children’s theatres as a costume maker and designer and completed her degree in knitwear at Heriot Watt School of Textiles to learn more. Maija is forever studying and learning and loves to share making skills and hopes that her workshops and products ignite a curiosity in how things are made and where things come from. Puzzleware concept, which the workshop is based, (previously known as Convertibles) has recently been shortlisted for an international design award with Dezeen Awards, Wearable category.
