International Womens Day is an opportunity for us to reflect on where we fall short, how we can improve, and to celebrate the incredible women who are quite literally taking care of business. Its a chance to keep the conversation going, level the playing field, and bring it back to what it all means equality.
On Saturday March 11th we’re hosting a techno talent event to raise money and awareness for Renfrewshire Womens Aid. This is a charity not only close to our hearts but their HQ is within walking distance of the basement. This charity was established in 1985 with the sole purpose of providing advice, support, information and safe accommodation for Women, Children & Young People affected by Domestic Abuse in Renfrewshire. Renfrewshire Womens Aid offers crisis intervention, emotional and practical support, advocacy and temporary refuge and scatter accommodation.
They are a member of Scottish Womens Aid network, of 36 local Womens Aid Groups across Scotland. Scottish Womens Aid is the lead organisation in Scotland working towards the prevention of domestic abuse and plays a vital role in campaigning and lobbying for effective responses to domestic abuse. Their service is carefully tailored to the women and children who need it. They have been able to achieve this by listening to and learning from all those who seek help from Renfrewshire Womens Aid.
But this is not just ‘one day’ at Club 69, this is a much bigger picture. We believe we are all striving for the same thing: To make night life, in particular Club 69, much more inclusive, open and safecompletely free from discrimination and prejudice or any sort of negativity. Any sort of threatening or abusive behaviour is not tolerated in the Rave Cave. Our management and security team wish to remind all customers that your safety is our priority, always! We have a zero tolerance approach to harassment and will exclude people without hesitation for this behaviour. We care, we hear you and we are listening.
