Located in the heart of Paisley, there are plenty of transport links to Sma’ Shot Day.
It is easily accessible by train and bus, and we encourage all visitors to consider using public transport to make their way to the event.
Train
Paisley Gilmour Street train station is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Abbey Close and runs regular services to and from Glasgow and Ayrshire/ Inverclyde.

Bus
McGill’s has various services in and around Paisley, with over 70 buses per hour serving Paisley town centre. There are plenty of bus stops nearby Abbey Close.
Buses from Glasgow city centre to Paisley are services 17, 38 & 26. Or from Renfrewshire or even Inverclyde, plan your journey on McGill’s free app, to find the best service, ticket and view your bus arriving to the stop in real time.
Car
Paisley town centre is just a 12-minute drive from Glasgow city centre via the M8 motorway which travels through Renfrewshire on its Greenock / Glasgow / Edinburgh route.
The closest public car parks to Abbey Close are Orchard Street, Lonend, School Wynd, and the Lagoon Leisure Centre. Charges will apply, find out more about parking and tariffs on the Council website. Please be considerate to our neighbours and don’t park in residential parking spaces.
Road and car park closures
The following roads will be closed from Friday 4 July at 8am until 9pm on Saturday 5 July:
- Bridge Street
- Abbey Close
- Bridge Street car park
- Shuttle Street
- Browns Lane
The Bridge Street closure will start at the entrance to the Renfrewshire House car park.
During the parade
There will be no access to Cotton Street or Bridge Street from 12:30 until 2pm.
Residents of Abbey Place should enter and exit via Renfrewshire House Car Park onto Mill Street. Stewards will assist in this process. Access for emergency vehicles will always be maintained.
Additional road closures will be in place from 11:30am until 2pm for the parade route:
- Braids Road, from Falside Road to Neilston Road
- Neilston Road, from Lochfield Road to Causeyside Street
- Causeyside Street, from Neilston Road to St Mirren Street
- St Mirren Street, from Causeyside Street to High Street
- High Street, from St Mirren Street to Gauze Street
- Gauze Street, from High Street to Lawn Street
- Cotton Street, from Bridge Street to Gauze Street
- Smithhills Street, from Gauze Street to Weir Street
