We are committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling at Paisley Food and Drink Festival.

Waste reduction and recycling

We encourage you to re-cycle your waste in the coloured bins provided across the event site.

Our food & drink traders are committed to no use of single-use plastics, in favour of compostable products where possible.

For more tips and resources on food waste reduction, visit Zero Waste Scotland and on keeping Scotland litter-free, visit Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Bring Your Own Reusable Cup (BYOC)

We encourage you to bring your own reusable cup.

Please make sure your cup is clean and suitable for the type of beverage you plan to purchase. This could be for either hot or cold beverages, for example, coffee cups or flasks.

Please note that glass cups are not permitted.

Bars and traders have the right to refuse use of your cup if it is not deemed suitable, for example, for serving beer in pint or half-pint measures.

Local traders and suppliers

To help reduce transport and travel emissions, as well as to boost the local economy, many festival traders and suppliers are local to Renfrewshire, or are Scotland based.

Our traders are encouraged to use locally-produced and seasonal ingredients.

Generators powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO)

Where possible, generators supplied for the event are powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), which is a renewable diesel fuel produced from vegetable oils or animal fats, offering a lower-carbon alternative to traditional fossil fuels, and can be used as a drop-in replacement for diesel.

Sustainable transport

Paisley has lots of great transport links around Renfrewshire and beyond, with fast train routes and regular local bus routes. Parking is limited around Paisley Town Centre, so it may be easier, and cheaper, to take public transport. See our page on Getting to Paisley Food and Drink Festival for more information.

Renfrewshire Climate Action Network

Renfrewshire Climate Action Network (or RenCAN for short) is a network of community-led organisations and individuals committed to tackling climate change in the Renfrewshire area. RenCAN is hosted by the RenCAN Hub which is part of LEAP (Local Energy Action Plan).
