What’s OnAs part of the Glasgow West End Festival, the talented Indian Springs Chamber Choir will perform a selection of modern, Early American, Baroque and Romantic songs.
Hailed by one reviewer as a “symbol of excellence,” the Indian Springs Concert Choir and smaller Chamber Choir delight audiences of all ages and diverse backgrounds in cities from San Antonio, Chicago, and New York City to Lucerne, Madrid, and Edinburgh.
*The New York Times* described the choir’s Lincoln Center debut as “a superb projection that would have done credit to any professional chorus.” The choirs continue to garner critical praise for their sensitivity and “exciting, vibrant” singing. Upon hearing a recording of the Chamber Choir singing his setting of *Ubi Caritas* during its 2013 tour to Switzerland, composer Ola Gjeilo sent a personal note to the group: “Heartfelt thanks to the Indian Springs School Choir for their beautiful performance of my *Ubi Caritas*. I was touched by the passion and musicianship they expressed.”
Led by Director of Choral Music Andrew Dibble, the groups sing an extraordinary range of music, including major Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th-century works; Broadway tunes; spirituals; arrangements of well-known pop hits; and traditional folk songs performed in up to 15 original languages.
More than 100 students sing in the Concert Choir, which tours domestically each year. A third of those singers also take part in the Chamber Choir, which also tours internationally.
During its 2015 international tour to Spain, the Chamber Choir mesmerized audiences in Seville, Granada, Madrid, and the Royal Monastery of El Escorial. Following the group’s performance during a mass at the 12th-century Avila Cathedral, churchgoers gathered in front of the choir, saying, “They didn’t seem to be people. It’s as if we were listening to angels.” (“*No parecia gente, es como si escucharamos a los angeles.*”)
This year the Indian Springs Concert Choir is excited to be visiting Scotland for the first time and sharing their music with audiences in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Sterling and Inverness.
