Gartnavel’s hidden walled garden forms part of the original, 200-year-old-hospital, and was originally the private garden of the hospital’s superintendent. It was restored about six years ago by the Green Exercise Partnership and is run by a loyal group of volunteers as an oasis of calm for hospital patients, staff and visitors. We do a little bit of everything at Gartnavel, growing both edibles and ornamentals and, as a hospital garden, we feature lots of sensory and medicinal plants too.
This is a fundraising event for the open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
