This performance is part of The Bridge – a new festival celebrating music for strings, brought to you by Scottish Ensemble (UK), Ensemble Resonanz (Germany), Trondheim Soloists (Norway), and PLMF Music Trust (Estonia).
A four day extravaganza. Music for strings – alive and unleashed. Across the corners of Glasgow. 14-17 May 2020.
/// GLITTERING ABSURD CONTORTING DREAM-STATES ///
/// CONTEMPORARY DANCE CLASSICAL STRINGS HYBRID///
/// AURAL-VISUAL FEAST OF RAZOR-SHARP MUSIC AND MOVEMENT ///
The festival curtains part to reveal a glittering playground of curious musicians and dancers. In dream-like sequences, through the wild landscape of Lutosławski and the overwhelming precision of Bach, they move together, creeping, stuttering, slinking and juddering towards their epic climax: Beethoven’s Grosse Fugue – played from memory. Music that has been ridiculed and praised, derided and celebrated.
This don’t-miss, critically-acclaimed production is alive with musical intrigue, subconscious exploration, and dance caught between ecstasy and our darkest thoughts…
You leave feeling as if you have gorged on the very stuff of life. Chaos, calm, disharmony, beauty, fear, connection, isolation – it’s all here, conveyed through music, movement or both.
