Mickey 9s & Support The Bungalow Paisley Independent Venue Week

Friday 2 February, 2024

Mickey 9s bring their post-funk evil disco back to The Bungalow in Paisley for Independent Venue Week 2024 with support with support from Motopia , Erin Hephzibah and Tanzana.
‘Anybody who knows the Scottish music scene will tell you that Mickey 9s are one of the most exciting bands to see live. The irreverent four piece from Glasgow combine elements of dance, punk, post-funk and disco into a blistering, genre-defying groove that sends crowds into a frenzy. They are previous Best Live Act Winners at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.
After releasing their third album Modern Kunst in 2021, Mickey 9s found that their heaviest work to date was also the most popular amongst their (now cult) following. Since that albums release, they have had five sold-out in a row Glasgow gigs in The Garage, Room 2 (twice), King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and SWG3 Warehouse, two tours around the country and they have now turned their attention towards creating new music for their fans after a busy 2023 Summer playing festivals across Scotland and England; Eden Festival, Kelburn Garden Party, ButeFest, Solfest and Outwith Festival.

The bands eagerly anticipated fourth album, Impressive Snake, is due for release in Spring 2024 with a Glasgow album launch party to be announced. They have released the following singles from it so far; Impossibility, Dream and Moments Go. The latter was prestigiously chosen by BBC Radio Scotland to be their final Single Of The Week of 2023 on The Afternoon Show.
The band will be on the road playing multiple towns and cities across Scotland from February onwards on their World Tour of Scotland 2024 and will have another busy festival season with Silverburn Festival and MugStock Festival already announced and more festival announcements to follow it.’

MOTOPIA BIO: ‘A fresh and powerful dynamic, Motopia have been encouraging self expression and exploring social consciousness since getting together in 2023. They made their way around the UK festival circuit after the success of their first headline show and went on to collaborate with She Drew The Gun throughout summer. The front woman, Mo, has been described as someone who has the energy of a punked up Kate Bush as they deliver high energy and expressive performances. They are working to release their first single at the beginning of this year (2024) and cant wait to get out and play their upcoming gigs and festivals.
ERIN HEPHZIBAH BIO: ‘A musician and artist from Glasgow, Scotland that has been performing in bands & collective projects for over 10 years, including Mandulu & Hephzibah, Kodak Ghosts and most recently The Ronains. Over her career she has supported artists such as; Paolo Nutini, Jill Jackson, James Grant, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees, Scouting for Girls and Big Country. Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art, during the Pandemic, she has been working towards a 2024 solo release, with slightly darker and folky material, inspired by personal experience, folklore and a love for artists such as; Hozier, Etta James, Echo & The Bunnymen and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.’
TANZANA BIO: ‘A 5-piece all-girl teenage alternative rock band from Glasgow. The band formed during late 2022 and in February were crowned winners of Battle of the Bands Lanarkshire 2023. Following gigs at Carlton Studios and Broadcast, TANZANA were invited to play Eden Festivals main stage in June and have since played The Bungalow and Room2 on a few occasions. TANZANAs influences are broad and wide, including bands like Fleetwood Mac, the Strokes, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley and Zero 7 (to name just a few). TANZANA are due to be recording their first single for release in 2024.’
‘Independent Venue Week #IVW24 celebrates the spirit of independence and culture of live music and venues. The one week independently spirited venues come together with artists, promoters and media to celebrate the art of live music.’
